A simple Idea

While professional cliff divers, Eleanor (Ellie) Smart and Owen Weymouth, were traveling around the world for their sport they kept noticing the same problem at every location: plastic pollution. The pair put their heads together and came up with The Clean Cliffs Project. It started with a simple idea, lets keep doing what we love while leaving a positive impact on the environment.

Mission

The Clean Cliffs Project's mission is to prevent plastic pollution in our worlds bodies of water
and inspire others to take action through the art of cliff diving!

Meet the founders

Founder of Clean Cliffs Project
Eleanor Smart, 22, is from the United States. She attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she graduated with a degree in Media Studies in 2015. After completing her undergrad, she began her masters in Sport Psychology while also pursuing her Professional Cliff Diving Career. She is currently taking time off from school to focus solely on cliff diving and getting “The Clean Cliffs Project” off the ground! Smart says:
“I feel so blessed to have found cliff diving and I want to share that with others while also giving back. From the very first time I went cliff jumping I noticed how polluted these absolutely stunning places were and it broke my heart which lead me to the idea of the ‘The Clean Cliff Projects.’ At the end of the day, being able to cliff dive professionally is a dream come true but being able to give back and have a positive impact on something bigger than myself is the most important thing to me.”

Co-Founder of Clean Cliffs Project
Owen Weymouth
, 19, is from Plymouth, England. He started diving at the age of 6 in his hometown and has since achieved 4 national junior titles. At the age of 13, Weymouth decided to turn his attention to professional cliff diving when his dream of making the Olympic games in 10 meter diving was becoming too far fetched. He balanced a 6 day training week with full time education and studied with the ambition of going to medical school. His breakthrough came in 2016 after a very successful amateur season which led to invitations to his first professional events in Red Bull and FINA. He has put University studies on hold to focus on a professional diving career and making “The Clean Cliffs Project” a reality. Weymouth says:

“It has been an amazing experience to become a professional athlete and now I cannot wait to develop the project and watch it flourish”
